1.3 Competitions and disciplines

Rad am Ring is a multidisciplinary cycling event that offers athletic activities in various disciplines. These terms and conditions list all legal and athletic foundations for all participants. For individual disciplines superordinate rules and regulations apply (see point 2). Should any ambiguities arise within these extensive rules and regulations/terms and conditions or in relation to superordinate rules and regulations, it will be decided strictly according to superordinate rules and regulations in competitive disciplines. In hobby sport disciplines we reserve the right to decide in all conscience, athletically fair and appropriate to the respective situation.

2. Competition Regulation / Participation Conditions

The basis for the regulations are the “Sportordnung” (sport ordinance) for races as well as the competition rules “Straße” (road) and “WT-MTB” of the BDR (German Cycling Federation). In case of deviations they will be indicated explicitely in these terms and conditions.

In addition, the regulations of the German Cycling Cup apply to the “Jedermann-Rennen” of 75 km and to the “Jedermann-Rennen” of 150 km.
 By entering, every participant acknowledges these terms and conditions/event regulations. Every participant is obliged to acquaint himself with the content of these terms and conditions/event regulations and to observe the content.

 

2.1. General Participation Prerequisites

Eligible for participation are all cyclists pertaining to the age groups stated in the special regulations (see item 13). Only persons complying with the following requirements are entitled to start:

  • registration in due form and time with the provided form (online, by fax or post)
  • signing the entry form or clicking the ok button when entering online as a sign of confirmation
  • accepting the participation conditions/terms and conditions/regulations
  • full payment of participation fee
  • complete fixation of starting numbers; folding or tearing them off may result in being disqualified
  • for road bike events: It’s mandatory that the rider have experience in riding the bike used at high speeds (more than 80 km/h). Bicycles may start swinging and dangerous situations may arise out of this.

2.2. Prerequisite for Fitness

The participant commits to verifying himself whether he is fit for participation in the event. In case of doubt he has to seek medical advice.

2.3. Minimum Age/Young People

  • Participants under 18 years of age require the approval for participation of their parents or legal guardians. Bank account details of a parent or guardian for charging the participation fee need to be stated for this. The parent or guardian approves of the minor’s participation by consenting to his bank account to be charged.
  • Minimum age for 24h-races is 18 years, for all other events a minimum age of 14 years applies (exceptions: MTB-Marathon courses of 50 and 75 km, see 13.6.1). Effective date for this is the respective day of the Rad am Ring event. Participants having just turned 18 will be classified in the category Men/Women. Due day is Rad am Ring’s first event day. Participants who have just turned 18 are classified in the age group AK (short for German “Altersklasse”, meaning age group) men/women
  • With multiple registrations (for example a coach registering a group of minors) the registrant (for example the coach) is obliged to obtain the permission of all the parents or legal guardians. By registering, he confirms to the organiser that he has done that.

2.4. Additional Regulations 24h-Race Road Bike, MTB

  • A team member’s participation in the riders’ briefing (see schedule) is mandatory. The information and amendments to the regulations conveyed there form part of the regulations.
  • There are no restrictions with reference to licence, membership of a club etc. The rider is only obliged to fulfil the requirements for health and riding skills. If needed, experts have to be consulted

2.5. Additional Regulations Public/amateur races (“Jedermann-Rennen”)

Eligible for participation are:

  • Hobby and recreational athletes without a licence or German score card
  • German “Rad-Touristik” riders (no RTF scores)
  • Racing cyclists holding a German senior or masters licence (only C licence and below)
  • Amateur racing cyclists holding a licence that pertains to the German C class or to the equivalent foreign class at most
  • Cyclists holding a licence higher than the German C class are able to participate for marketing reasons. These bicyclists will be classified separately. Their classifications will not be incorporated into the classification of the “Jedermann-Rennen”
  • It is not necessary to be a club member

At the public races men, women and youth (with consent of the guardian) can participate, irrespective of a club membership. Excluded from participation are members of a sports group registered in the UCI. Regarding the participation of licensed athletes of other associations, GCC can enforce a case-by-case test.

2.6. Additional Regulations Time Trial

Eligible for participation are:

  • Hobby and recreational athletes without a licence or German score card
  • German “Rad-Touristik” riders (no RTF scores)
  • Cyclists with senior or masters licenses (all categories)
  • Amateur race cyclists and pro cyclists with a license
  • It is not necessary to be a club member

2.7. Additional regulations MTB-Marathon

There are no restrictions regarding license, club membership etc. Riders must, however, meet requirements regarding health conditions and riding skills. For this purpose experts have to be consulted if necessary. Juniors of U17 category are only allowed on the 25 km course (see 13.6.1).

Important rules of conduct

The event is partly held on public roads that are not closed to traffic. Therefore the following rules are to be adhered to when participating in this race:

  • Participants have to adhere to traffic rules whenever applicable. Participation requires continuous attention and mutual consideration. In case of unclear road layouts participants must be especially careful, ready to brake in downhill passages and expect oncoming vehicles.
  • On the short passages on tarmac roads, all participants must ride on the right hand side (as far right as possible). Cutting corners is not permitted.
  • Participants must behave in a way that no other person is harmed, put at risk or impeded or harassed more than circumstances may require.
  • No support vehicles are allowed on the course; no e-bikes are allowed either.
  • Assistance from other participants or external third parties is forbidden, especially pushing, drawing and riding in a slipstream.
  • Supporters/Coaches are allowed to hand nutrition, drinks, clothing or spare parts from the roadside if the race is not impeded by doing so.
  • Slower riders must clear the way for overtaking riders immediately.
  • Defects must be repaired beside the course without impeding other participants.

3. Liability/Consent

3.1 Confirmation

By signing the registration form or by completing a binding online registration, the participant confirms having taken note of the participation conditions/terms and conditions /regulations and explicitly accepting them.

3.2 Risk

Participation in the event happens at one’s own risk! The participant knows and is fully aware of the dangers associated with cycling, especially mountain biking and cycling on the Nürburgring. The participant acknowledges that there is a risk involved in striving for special sporting achievements. The participant accepts for him-/herself that life and physical safety can be endangered by the practice of such a competitive sport. This includes dangers for everyone in the competition area, especially from environmental conditions, technical equipment, atmospheric influences, possibly dangers of public roads, as well as natural and artificial obstacles.

3.3 Liability

Riding on, driving on and entering the event premises, especially the race track, happens at the exclusion of any liability of:

  1. the organiser as well as his employees, members of staff and/or members
  2. the track operator/race track owner
  3. the helpers, marshals and officials
  4. the race and track services
  5. all other persons/sponsors/institutions affiliated with the organisation of the event
  6. all the legal representatives and auxiliary persons of all the persons and institutions mentioned here at points 1 to 5

3.4 Intent and Negligence

This liability exclusion does not apply to damages arising from injuries to life, body and health that are based on an intentional or negligent breach of duty or to other damages based on an intentional or grossly negligent breach of duty.

3.5 Information duty

The participant commits himself to inform all of his team members and other accompanying parties about this liability exclusion.

3.6 Health

The participant must be healthy, in good physical condition and therefore able to participate in Rad am Ring. This is the responsibility of the participant. The organizer assumes no liability for health risks of the participants. With receipt of the start number, the participant declares that there are no health concerns against his/her participation.

3.7 Impossibility

In cases of initial impossibility, the organizer shall only be liable if they were aware of the impediment to performance or if their ignorance is based on gross negligence, insofar as this does not affect a cardinal obligation.

3.8 Equipment and Clothing

By receiving the bib numbers/starting documents every participant declares bindingly that there are no health-related concerns that would not allow for participation in the event.

3.9 Regulatory stuff

Instructions given by the helpers have to be strictly complied with.

3.10 Data storage and publishing

The participant agrees to the fact that the data stated in his registration are saved digitally and may be published in the participants and result lists, among others on the internet, by the organiser and/or his service providers. Photos, film footage, videos and similar made in the context of the race participation/during the event as well as interviews given on radio, tv, in advertising and books may be used by the organiser without any claim for remuneration and without time or geographical limitation.

3.11 Rights of Use photos

Declaration of consent for the distribution of images/rights of use: The participant expressly permits that photos and film recordings (images) of him/her may be taken within the scope of his/her participation at Rad am Ring. The photos, film recordings, videos etc. as well as radio and television interviews taken in connection with participation in the race/event may be used by the organizer in the press, radio, television, advertising, books, photomechanical copies and video cassettes (CD, DVD, hard disks) also for advertising purposes without remuneration claims and without time and spatial limitation.

3.12 Newsletter/Participant informations

By providing my e-mail address, I agree that it may be used for sending me information in the form of a newsletter by the organizer and their organizational partners. This consent can be revoked at any time.

3.13 Time limits

The participant agrees to be taken out of the race/event if he/she exceeds the specified time limits (if relevant), violates the regulations or runs the risk of damaging his/her health.

4. Terms of NÜRBURGRING 1927 GmbH

4.1 Driving in Pegs

Driving in pegs is strictly forbidden in all paved (tarmac or similar) areas. Damages caused by driving in pegs will be billed to the participant.

4.2 Animals

Bringing animals into the event area is not allowed. An exption are dogs but they have to be on a leash.

4.3 Driving a Vehicle without a Driving Licence, Skateboards

It is forbidden for children and persons without a driving licence to use motorised vehicles, skateboards and similar means of transportation. It is also forbidden to use means of transport that are not insured but would be insurance-liable according to German regulations.

4.4 Regulations Regarding Drinking Water

The drinking water supply has to adhere to the current drinking water ordinance. Especially hose pipes and couplings have to comply with hygienic standards. Only authorised devices can be used (no usage of garden hoses etc.).

4.5 Compliance with Noise Restrictions by Authorities

During the course of the whole event noise exposures to loudspeaker-amplified music and running engines are not allowed. In the town of Nürburg the following noise limits values have to be adhered to: noise rating level in the daytime (6 a.m. to 10 p.m.) up to 60 dB(A) and at night time (10 p.m. to 6 a.m.) up to 45 dB(A). Should the participant not observe the noise regulations or even exceed them repeatedly after having been warned by the organiser, the participant may be liable for compensation. The organiser has to prove the damage to the participant.

4.6 Temporary Structures, Tents, Stages

Temporary structures with a minimum height of 5 m, intended for visitors are generally prohibited. The same applies for tents with a ground area of at least 75 m², fairground rides and stages whose floor space covers at least 100 m², whose height of raised floor more than 1,50 m and whose height including roofing and superstructural parts is more than 5 m.

4.7 Protection of the Environment

NÜRBURGRING 1927 GmbH and the organiser actively engage in protecting the environment in all areas of business. They also expect of the participants and all other involved parties to follow general rules for the protection of the environment. Complying with all prevailing legal requirements in the environmental area is the basis of our contract. This applies in particular to the regulations concerning waste disposal, soil and water protection as well as immission control. The requirements of NÜRBURGRING 1927 GmbH put down in the German leaflet “Umweltschutzhinweise für die Rennteams” (Instructions for Environmental Protection for Race Teams) are binding according to the valid version at the given time.

 

5. Material Requirements

5.1. 24h-Race Road Bike and “Jedermann-Rennen” (public/amateur races)

5.1.1 General

The material requirements of the BDR (German Cycling Federation) apply. Each participant is personally responsible for the road safety of his road bike. Special attention needs to be applied to the functioning of the brakes and other safety-related components. A lighting system is required at night. Participants with a bicyle that is obviously not roadworthy can be taken out of the event at any time by the organisation or be disqualified subsequently. There are no chaingear ratio limitations. The following material or types of bicycles are explicitly not permitted:

  • front and/or rear disc wheels
  • time trial wheels (also “four spokes”)
  • triathlon handlebars, handle bar extensions or delta handlebars
  • handlebar fittings of all types (except MTB bar ends)
  • bicycle trailers of all types
  • storage bags and other payloads
  • drinking bottles made of glass or other breakable materials
  • unicyles
  • human powered vehicles and recumbent bicyles (also trikes)
  • tandems
  • handcycles
  • cargo bicycles
  • E-Bikes

In derogation to BDR/UCI regulations road bikes with disc brakes are permitted to participate in Rad am RIng hobby sport events.

5.1.2 Lightning

A lighting system for the 24h-Race is mandatory during night. The lighting system has to function without any problems in the front and rear from dusk to dawn without fault and it has to be operating. Unlit road bikes can be stopped at night and/or be taken out of the classification.

5.2. Time Trial

The material requirements of the BDR (German Cycling Federation) apply. We reserve the right to modifications in terms of a amateur sporting event organization. Each participant is personally responsible for the road safety of his bicycle. Special attention needs to be applied to the functioning of the brakes and other safety-related components. A lighting system is required at night. Participants with a bicycle that is obviously not roadworthy can be taken out of the event at any time by the organization. There are no gear ratio limitations. The following material or types of bicycles are explicitly not permitted:

  • front and/or rear disc wheels (danger of cross-wind at high speed)
  • drinking bottles made of glass or other breakable materials
  • unicyles
  • human powered vehicles and recumbent bicyles (also trikes)
  • tandems
  • handcycles
  • cargo bicycles
  • E-Bikes

5.3. Touring Rides

Each participant is personally responsible for the road safety of his bicycle. Special attention needs to be applied to the functioning of the brakes and other safety-related components. A lighting system is required at night. Participants with a bicyle that is obviously not roadworthy can be taken out of the event at any time by the organisation. There are no chaingear ratio limitations. The following material or types of bicyles are explicitly not permitted:

  • bicycle trailers of all types
  • panniers, saddle bags and other payloads
  • drinking bottles made of glass or other breakable materials
  • unicycles
  • human powered vehicles and recumbent bicyles (also trikes)
  • handcycles
  • tandems
  • cargo bicycles
  • Pedal-powered vehicles with electric drive whose electric support will not cut off at 25 km/h
  • all kinds of e-bikes

5.4 24h-Race MTB, MTB-Marathon

Equipment regulations of BDR (Bund Deutscher Radfahrer) apply. Participants are responsible for the road safety of their bikes. Especially brakes and other safety-relevant parts have to be in perfect working order. Lighting for riding at night is mandatory. Participants with bikes that do obviously not comply with road safety regulations may be excluded from the race by organizers any time or be disqualified after the race.

There are not limitations with regard to gear range.

Participants are recommended to equip themselves adequately for a mountain bike event. This includes for 24h-race and MTB-Marathon clothing for all weather conditions and First Aid kit. Also carrying along tools and spare parts is highly recommended.

The material or types of bicycles listed below are explicitly not permitted:

  • bicycle trailers of all types
  • panniers, saddle bags and other payloads
  • drinking bottles made of glass or other breakable materials
  • unicycles
  • human powered vehicles and recumbent bicycles (also trikes)
  • tandems
  • handcycles
  • cargo bicycles
  • E-Bikes

5.5. eBike Enduro-Race

a. Participants are responsible for the safety of their e-bikes. Especially for keeping them in a condition that meets the requirements of the road traffic regulations. It is vital that brakes and other safety-relevant parts work faultlessly. Participants with bikes that are not roadworthy may be taken out of the race at any time by organisers or may subsequently be disqualified. There are no limitations to gear ratio.

The equipment listed below i.e. the following bike types are explicitly forbidden:

  • e-drives that accelerate to more than 25 km/h
  • bottles made of glass or any other breakable material

b. All customary e-bikes/pedelecs whose e-drive is limited to a maximum speed of 25 km/h are allowed. The following rules are to be adhered to:

  • 26” and 29” wheels are allowed
  • Fullys and hardtails with suspension fork are allowed
  • manipulated drives are forbidden. eBikes which are supported to speeds exceeding 25 km/h will be prevented from participation or disqualified. Adherence to this regulation will be verified by spot checks.
  • sharp-edged and pointed parts have to be dismounted, these include
  • kickstands
  • mudguards
  • light mounts (may be replaced by detachable bike lights)

6. Hazard Notes: Barriers/Crossing Traffic/Rotations

  • Despite measures to secure the track and riding areas, participants, accompanying parties and spectators should anticipate spectators or participants who have a “riding break” to enter or ride onto the track at any time. Extra caution has to be taken in all of the Grand Prix circuit, especially along the tracksides.
  • Due to the rotating character of the 24h-Races additional hazards arise and all racing cyclists have to be prepared for this. For example, these can be participants who change directions unexpectedly, sudden braking or lots of activity going on along the tracksides.
  • The rotations take place during 24h-races and on the entire area of the Grand Prix circuit (including the passage of paddock and pit lane), namely starting at the transition from the Nordschleife to the Grand Prix circuit at the beginning of the home stretch and ending at the transition from the Grand Prix circuit to the Nordschleife at the beginning of the home bend.
  • Barriers set up by the organiser may not be removed! Violators may be penalised.

7. Routing

  • Every participant is obliged to know the exact routing of his race/discipline. This especially applies to the area of the Grand Prix circuit. Extra caution while riding has to be taken where stretches of the track separate or merge back together.
  • If a participant gets to ride for the first time at night (24h-Race) he has to examine the routing and track conditions, at least in the area of the Grand Prix circuit, in daylight. He has to memorise possible peril points and their marking.
  • Track information divulged during the riders’ briefing (24h rexes only) form part of the regulations.

8. Deer Crossing

Deer crossing cannot be totally excluded on the race track.

9. Cancellation of the event/non-attendance

  • In cases of force majeure, due to official orders or for security reasons, the organizer is entitled to make changes to the event or to cancel the event. In these cases, the organizer is not liable to pay damages to the participant.
  • If an individual participant fails to participate, all claims against the organizer are forfeited.

10. Support Vehicles / Aid / Repair of Defects

10.1. Applies to All Events Except for Time Trials

  • If a stop is necessary it has to be carried out strictly on the right side of the track. Defects or break-downs have to be signalled by raising the right hand.
  • Exchanging spare parts and tools between participants is permitted. When falling, breaking down or experiencing physical problems it is explicitly allowed to seek help from outside the team. Only support vehicles from the organiser are admitted. Who has themselves transported to the finish by the support vehicle during the 24h-Race gets penalties (precise details on-site during the team briefing), during the “Jedermann-Rennen” this will lead to disqualification.

10.2. Time Trials

  • If a stop is necessary it has to be carried out strictly on the right side of the track. Defects or break-downs have to be signalled by raising the right hand.
  • Individual support vehicles as well as provisions handed out from the tracksides are not admitted.

11. Riding Order / Warming Up / Starting Order

  • No participant must obstruct or endanger another one. Under no circumstances must a participant be hindered from developing his full speed or from overtaking.
  • Forcing somebody off the track, pushing oneself off an opponent, pushing a rider or other actions in order to gain a personal or mutual benefit are prohibited. It is furthermore prohibited to ride in the slipstream of motorised vehicles, to be pulled by them or be pushed by someone sitting on or in them. The same applies after a fall or breakdown.
  • Only the public traffic areas or the supply routes around the Nürburgring are available for warm-up. On the premises warming up is only possible on your own road bike trainer. Possible amendments will be announced prior to the event.
  • Throwing away waste and water bottles is prohibited and will be sanctioned.
  • Information on pre-start, starting grid and starting times published on www.radamring.de are binding.

11.1. Additional Regulations 24h-Race Road Bike and 24h-Race-MTB

As a basic principle, rider rotations are only allowed in the area of the Grand Prix circuit (an exception is made for the MTB organisation team) and only once per lap. Multiple rotations per lap are explicitly prohibited.

11.2. Additional Regulations Time Trial

11.2.1. Riding Order
  • If a rider is caught up with he must neither take the lead nor must he profit from the slipstream of the rider overtaking him
  • The rider that is overtaking another one has to keep a minimum of 2 meters lateral distance. After one kilometer the rider that was overtaken has to be at a distance of at least 25 meters to the other one.
  • 
Firstly, adhering to this rule is a principle of fairness and secondly, it will be monitored by the persons in authority
  • Helping each other among riders is prohibited
  • The race manager will impose penalties and disqualifications in the case of infringements
11.2.2. Starting Order
  • The riders will start at 20-second intervals (subject to change)
  • Each rider has to show up at the starting area for having his road bike checked at least 15 minutes prior to his start
  • Once the online registration process is closed the starting times of the individual riders will be published for the first time. Late registrants will be given a later starting time
  • According to the starting number the start will be carried out in an ascending order. On the registration form certain parameters will be collected for the compilation of the starting list
  • The rider has to do a standing start. He will be held and let go by a helper without being pushed. If necessary, two helpers at the same time may come into operation as the lining up for the start may happen in two lanes due to shorter lengths of cycle, as stated above
  • The starter will give the starting instructions to the rider by counting down the time. Under normal circumstances, riders not standing at the start on time cannot be admitted anymore.
  • Each rider is solely responsible of finding out about schedule/regulations changes. If necessary, changes will be communicated by e-mail or on-site in the area of the start ramp/stage

11.3. Additional Regulations Touring Rides

  • absolutely ride to the right
  • do not ride next to several other participants
  • apply extra caution when riding downhill

11.4. Starting- and ride order E-Enduro-Race

All participants of the E-Enduro-Race will start simultaneously and neutralized in the stage area at Grand Prix paddock. The first and only connecting section leads through road traffic and over country roads to the Off Road Park (approx. 3 km). In case there are more than 50 participants the field of riders will be divided into multiple start times.

At the Off Road Park individual starts for all participants bindingly begin with stage 1, the race continues according to specified order (1, 2, 3). The race time of every stage will be taken individually via transponder at the start and finish line respectively.

A disqualification will also mean losing all prizes and honorary gifts. The organisation management reserves the right to disallow prizes and honorary gifts even for unsportsmanlike conduct not listed in the list of penalties.

 

13. Classifications

Pertaining to an age group is determined by the guidelines of the BDR.

For a classification, it is not mandatory that a race is held over the originally planned distance. When shortening the distance is still a classification.

13.1.2.1. Individual Riders

Individual riders are classified into the following age groups:

      • men/women, m/w up to 1990
      • master 1 m/w 1979 – 1988
      • master 2 m/w 1969 – 1978

The teams of the 24h-Race are classified based on the average age of their team members. 13.3.1. Age Groups

Apart from the overall individual classification (men and women) the following age groups are classified as stated below. Scoring for the GCC classification is carried out according to the GCC scoring system. The 25 km race will not score towards the GCC.

13.3.2 Teams (gilt nicht für 25-km-Rennen)

There will be a team classification with the “Jedermann-Rennen“. Any number of riders can be registered to participate in the team classification. The ratio of sex and age of the team members is irrelevant; for this reason, the team classification needs to result from the unisex ranking list (unisex classification) of all participants.

The team classification is established by adding the team members’ place numbers. The unisex classification of the race is the decisive factor. For this, four successive riders of one team (riders 1 to 4 of team XX = team 1, riders 5 to 8 of team XX = team 2 etc.) will be classified as a team.
The team holding the lowest place number will win the daily team classification. If there is a tie between two or more teams, the best rider’s classification of the particular daily individual classification will be the decisive factor.

Allocating points for the GCC team classification will occur in a similar manner as the classification system for individual riders (see above). Thus, the best team will score 250 points plus kilometre points etc.

If certain riders wish to be classified as a team, the team name will need to differ clearly from that of other teams. Stating the sponsor or team name together with the reference number will not be enough. In compliance with the aforementioned conditions it is also possible to register several teams. The requested difference in team names also needs to be adhered to when registering teams for different track distances within the scope of the event.

13.4. Time Trial

Beside overall individual classification (men and women) age group classifications will be as follows:

13.5. Touring Rides

There will be no classification for the Nordschleifen Touring Rides. No RTF scores will be awarded.

13.6. MTB-Marathon

There will only be a classification for individual riders at MTB-Marathon. Beside the overall individual classification (men and women) there will be age group classifications according to 13.6.1

13.7. E-Enduro-Race

There is one classification for E-Enduro Race: Men and Women together. There is no age group classification. The overall race time will be determined by adding the individual stage times.

Stages have to be ridden within a set period (see Timetable). After expiry of the respective period of time stages will be closed. Missed stages will be rated with the slowest stage time plus ten percent respectively.

14. Award Ceremony / Medals / Certificates

  • Each participant is personally responsible to inform himself about his race results and to show up for the award ceremony without being asked and on time in case of a relevant ranking.
Being absent at the award ceremony will result in the forfeit of the entitlement to awards and prizes. This will also apply in case the timetable of the award ceremony had to be changed during the course of the event.
  • There will be no immediate printout opportunity for certificates on site. Certificates can be printed out online on the official website as a PDF form.

14.1 Preise Disciplines

At the award ceremony places 1 to 3 of the different events, subdivided into classifications for women and men, will be awarded trophies and non-cash prizes.

14.2. Prizes Age Groups

The winners and runners-up (places 1 to 3) of the age groups will be awarded winner’s medals.

14.3 Certificates

Certificates will be available for download in PDF format via rssults list. Certificates for Nordschleifen Touring Rides may be downloaded in a seperate area in the results module on www.radamring.de.

14.4 Medals

Each participant of Rad am Ring (except touring rides) receive a finisher medal.

14.5 E-Enduro-Race

The three fastest riders (men and women together) will be awarded cups and non-cash prizes.

15. Helmets / Protective Clothing

  • It is mandatory for everybody to wear a helmet. The helmet has to carry the seal of an acknowledged testing institute (e.g. German DIN standard 33954, SNEL standard, ANSI standard or similar).
  • Riding without a helmet is penalised with a time penalty according to section 14. Continuous riding without a helmet will lead to being disqualified.
  • Correct fitting of the helmet has to be ensured.
  • The helmet must not show any damage.
  • The helmet needs to dispose of undamaged, non-elastic straps that are connected to the shell at at least three spots and that is closable by means of a safety system (no Velcro or similar).

16. Starting Numbers

All participants receive seat post- and helmet numbers. For the mountain bike marathon there are additional handlebar numbers. Detailed information is provided by videos and the information sheet of our timekeeper. Participants without a start number must expect to be taken out of the race, or at least be fined.

17. Registration Confirmation

When registering online there will be no other confirmation than the one created by the system (printing window and e-mail). When registering with a form the confirmation will be carried out after the processing by the system. An e-mail address is a prerequisite for this.

18. Withdrawal, No-Show, Rebooking/Substitute Participant, Return Debit Note

18.1. Withdrawal

The participant can withdraw from the contract at any time. This happens through a written statement towards the organiser. If a withdrawal happens up to 60 days prior to the event the participation fee minus the following administration fee is reimbursed.

Administration fee in case of a cancellation up to 60 days prior to the event:

  • Jedermann-Rennen/Touring Rides/Time Trial/MTB-Marathon, Cross Country-Rennen: 10,00 €
  • 24h-Race, individual rider: 10,00 €
  • 24h-Race, team of 2: 15,00 €
  • 24h-Race, team of 4: 25,00 €
  • 24h-Race, team of 8: 25,00 €

If a participant withdraws later than 60 days prior to the event, there will be no reimbursement.

18.2. No-Show

There will also be no reimbursement of the participation fee if a participant will not show.

18.3. Rebookings/Substitute Participant

  • For all rebookings there is an administration fee of €10.00 (even on the event day).
  • After the deadline of the online-registration, rebookings for all events are only possible on-site at the TNC at a charge of €10.00 .
  • Rebookings from an original participant to a substitute participant on the event day is only possible when there is a written confirmation by the participant registered at the time of the event. A second passing on of the starting position is not feasible.
  • In case a rebooking to an event of minor importance happens less than 60 days prior to the event, the surplus is forfeited.

18.4. Return Debit Note

The respective participant will be charged with banking cost arising from a return debit note of 8.00€ from our service partner Abavent.

18.5. Storno-Bedingungen Boxen

Komplette Boxen können bis zum 31. Januar des Veranstaltungsjahres kostenfrei storniert werden. Danach werden 50 % Stornogebühren fällig. Ab 60 Tage vor der Veranstaltung betragen die Stornogebühren 100 %.

19. Time-Keeping and Transponders

Timing is done with transponder technology. The transponder will be handed out with the start documents. It is in a water bottle or integrated into the start number. Installation must be carried out in accordance with the regulations (19.2. Fixation of Transponder).

The results are determined according to the following procedures:

24h-Race Road Bike: starting and individual finish time will be registered. The rider with most laps wins. If two riders rode the same number of laps the faster riding time decides.

24h-Race MTB: starting and individual finish time will be registered. The rider with most laps wins. If two riders rode the same number of laps the faster riding time decides.

MTB-Marathon: Neutralized start. All participants get the same starting time. Block starting times can also be given. Exact information is latest given at start. Finish time will be recorded individually. Riding time is decisive. The fastest time is the best.

Public Races: Net time-keeping with modification: individual start and finish times will be recorded. Respectively the first 50 men and the first 15 women will be classified according to finish. Starting with rider #51 (men) and #16 (women) net time decides (also see GCC regulations).

Time Trial: Net time-keeping; individual starting and finish time will be registered. The rider with most laps wins. If two riders rode the same number of laps the faster riding time decides.

E-Enduro-Race: The riding times of the stages between the respective stage start and stage finish are taken and added. The overall shortest riding time is the best.

19.1. Time-keeping E-Enduro-Race

Time-keeping is carried out with a transponder using a special technology.

Time-keeping is carried out with transponder. It must be registered after start (stage in paddock) and after transfer stage to Offroad Park at the indicated position. The transponder is mounted to the bike with a special holder and saves riding times. After the last stage the transponder has to be removed and handed over at the issuing point as otherwise no time-keeping will be effected. In case transponder gets lost the respective participant will be charged €65.

19.2. Fixation of Transponder

19.2.1 24h-Race Road Bike and 24h-Races-MTB

Each team receives the transponder in a drinking bottle. It is to be transported in the bottle holder on the bike. The participant assumes responsibility for alternative ways of transport. Tests have shown that transponder bottles also work in the back pocket of cycling jerseys. It is important, however, that no jacket is pulled over it. The situation becomes particularly critical if, for example, a thick, wet jacket covers the transponder bottle, as it considerably weakens the signal. Individual riders receive the transponder integrated into the seat post number.

19.2.2. Public Races, Time Trial, MTB-Marathons

Each participant will receive the transponder as part of the seatpost number.

19.3. Timing Control

Besides the control of course staff and sports supervisors, the track is monitored by timing loops at multiple positions. In case of missing a transponder deflection at a timing loop, the rider / team looses the lap.

19.4. Appeal Against the Result

Appeals against the result have to be submitted in writing to the organiser within eight days after the race. Please exclusively use the online appeal form for this (forms are also available directly on-site for appeals). After that point in time no more appeals will be accepted. Possible changes of the result will be published up to 14 days after the event at the latest.

21. Participation Fees

Rad am Ring’s debt management is conducted by our service provider Abavent GmbH. Besides the SEPA direct debit system (cost-free), you may choose one of these options i.e. credit card and invoice (companies only). The fees payable to the service provider will be shown in detail before registration is concluded. Entry fees are listed in points 21.1 to 21.6.

22. Applicable Law / Severability Clause

The law of the Federal Republic of Germany shall apply to all legal relationships between the organizer and participants.

Should individual provisions of these General Terms and Conditions be invalid, the remainder of the contract shall remain effective.
